Tigers News · Boys Varsity Soccer @ Agua Fria

The Millennium Boys Varsity Soccer team traveled down the road Monday night to face off against Region Rival Agua Fria.

The first half was a back and forth game with both teams creating chances, but not quite finding the back of the net. The best look the Tigers saw in the first half came off of a free kick by Junior Striker Noah Fernandez. He played a perfect ball into the box that found the head of Senior Midfielder Harry Rice. Agua Fria keeper made a nice save to keep it scoreless going into halftime.

The second half saw much of the same, but the Tigers were much more into the attack than the first half. Creating several scoring chances and drawing fouls for dangerous set pieces. Junior Midfielder Carlos Camacho almost had a goal in his third consecutive game when he took a free kick from just outside the 18 yard box. It hit just below the crossbar and struck down to the ground, from there the Agua Fria defense cleared it. Unfortunately the assistant ref did not see it cross the goal line.

Finally with 17 minutes left in the game the Tigers found the go ahead goal! Junior Midfielder found himself on a counter and took multiple defenders, eventually getting a look just outside the 18 yard box with his left foot. He hit a screamer to the top left corner! It was his second goal on the season!

The Tigers saw a couple more chances, but couldn’t quite finish. Meanwhile, defensively the back line did their job. Several key stops by Junior Fullback and Captain John Stull helped hold on to the win and shutout!

The Tigers play again Tuesday night at home against Arcadia!
