Tigers News · Boys Soccer vs Willow Canyon

The Millennium Boys Soccer team faced off against Willow Canyon last Friday night. The Tigers were on the last game of a three game (supposed to be four) week! They were beat up, tired, and down players from the last match. Several players were out or not a full go due to injury and one player was serving a 1 game suspension due to a red card received in the previous match.

All of that and it still didn’t slow them down! They managed to get the 2-0 win! Both teams started the game with some sloppy play and for the Tigers some fatigue. About 10 minutes into the first half Willow Canyon made a mistake in the midfield, which was quickly taken advantage of by Junior Striker Noah Fernandez, who beat the lone defender and tucked it away in the bottom left corner for his first goal of the season. The rest of the half was very much back and forth, but neither team could quite finish.

The second half was much of the same, but the Tigers started to feel the fatigue and switched up their tactics. Playing a more defensive/counter attacking style of soccer. The defense stood strong as Junior Defender John Stull, Junior Defender Davis Rubel, and Senior Keeper Bogar Parra Diaz solidified the backline to keep Willow Canyon off the scoreboard!

With 7 minutes left in the game, Junior Midfielder Elias Linn iced the game with a wonderful left footed strike that found the bottom left corner! From their the defense continued to hold strong to complete the win and shutout!

The Tigers are back in action this week with 2 games. Tuesday night at home Against Desert Mountain and Thursday night against Region Rival Verrado!
