Tigers News · Boys Soccer vs Verrado

The Boys Soccer teams swept Verrado last night, with JV winning 2-1 and Varsity winning 1-0!

Not only did the Varsity team get the win against Region Rival, but the win meant even more. With the victory last night, The Millennium Boys Soccer team captured its first Region Championship in 9 years! The Tigers went undefeated in their Region, winning all 4 games and only allowing 1 goal against Region opponents!

The Tigers came out with high intensity and pressure. Playing very fast and aggressive, which caught Verrado by surprise. Only 6 minutes into the game, the pressure paid off, when a Verrado player tried to alleviate some pressure by playing the ball back to their keeper. Because of the high pressure by the Tigers, it was a poor pass and the keeper couldn’t quite get to it, resulting in an own goal!

The rest of the game was much of the same from the Tigers, playing very aggressively, dominating possession, and always on the attack! The Tigers had several chances to ice the game in the second half, including a volley from Junior Midfielder Eli Linn that just barely missed off of the goal post!

Meanwhile the backline of the Tigers, lead by Junior Defender and Captain John Stull, was relentless in their effort to keep Verrado of the scoreboard. Only allowing 3 shots all not long, which were easily gathered by Senior Keeper Bogar Parra Diaz.

The Tigers look to keep pushing forward with 3 games left on the regular season and hopefully a playoff push! Next game is Tuesday February 23rd against Campo Verde at home!
